Square dancing has been around for centuries. We are taught to learn this dance for our nation and for our background history . On November 29th is square dance day in the United States . Over our nation many people have been taught how to square dance and even until this day. Square dancing is also our nations number one dance besides hip hop dance.
The different steps that I've learned while being taught the square dance was having to be paired up with a partner. You also had to have four paired people which equaled eight in total. We all had to promenade.Other steps were swinging your partner, doing the birdie in the middle and also do-si-do.
More steps were right and left grand. circling right , thread the needle , allemande left and star around . A caller is a person who prompts dance figures. It is important to know your number as a couple in the square dance because when the caller counts out the next step you need to know when its your turn to take the next step into the dance. It is important to know the names of the steps also because when the caller calls out the name of the steps instead of your number.
My experience dancing the square dance was very new to me . I was surprised when all the steps were coming at me by surprise because I really didn't know what I was doing what so ever. I can honestly say there was some laughter to the experience of me and my partners learning how to dance because everyone was messing up in the beginning and it was funny. Learning the square dance with people that I'd never thought I'd talk to was really cool cause now i'm able to call them my friends.
